Program:
Eight weeks of intensive study: five hours a day, six days a week.
Objective:
To provide beginning students with a firm foundation in Sanskrit grammar and vocabulary and intermediate students with a review and filling in of the fundamentals of the language and its vocabulary.
Method:
Study
of the Samksepa
Harinamamrta-vyakarana by Jiva Goswami along with sections of
the Amara-kosa.
Reading
of the Bhagavad-gita
with the commentary of Visvanatha Cakravartin.
Location:
Kirksville,
Missouri. The quiet college (Truman State University) town of
Kirksville, Missouri, is located in northeast Missouri directly north
of Columbia, Missouri, on Highway 63. It is an inexpensive place
to live and study, remote, yet not too inaccessible, small, but not too
small. The summers are warm and comfortable. There is lots
of inexpensive housing around and all the advantages of small town
America (low crime, low costs, transportation by foot or bicycle).

Photocopies
provided; books at cost.
Final Result:
Certificate
of successful completion of the course from the Caitanya Sanskrit Tol
along with a detailed letter describing the areas covered in the summer
intensive course (useful for getting credit at home colleges and
universities). Eligibility for more advanced courses of study in
the future. Most importantly the genuine ability to read and
understand simple texts in
Sanskrit.
